From the Midland Daily News:
Led by Ferris State's Nick Butler, Midland-area football players are beginning to make their mark in the tough GLIAC conference. The Bulldogs are rolling into town this week and the first practice is Friday morning.
"He is such an impressive young person," Bulldogs' coach Jeff Pierce said of Butler, a Midland High graduate. "He's been waiting in the wings to get his opportunity to play. We're counting on big things from him this year."
"He's been a great leader in our football program," said Pierce. "He's a tremendous role model for our younger players."
Another Midland High graduate, Catlin Porter, is attempting to crack the Bulldogs' line-up as a kicker. With the departure of All-GLIAC selection Jim Yates, Ferris finds itself having to fill all three kicking positions.
