FOOTBALL: Signs Of Fall Are Here With Bulldog Football Hitting The Turf At Top Taggart Field

BIG RAPIDS - For so many of us, there are few better times of the year than the beginning of football practice in the fall.

Friday morning, the Ferris State University football team was out on the Top Taggart Field turf getting started with their first fall practice of 2009. Head coach Jeff Pierce and his squad are in the beginning stages of what will be a grueling preseason schedule designed to have Ferris as well-prepared as possible for the start of the regular season on Aug. 29 when the Bulldogs host Tiffin University at Top Taggart Field beginning at 7 p.m.

And, as usual, the coaches were tough on the players who have returned from the summer to see who has been working hard and who has maybe hardly been working. It can be a painful day of testing for the players, but it sets the tone for what will be a tough preseason practice schedule to put the Bulldogs on track to be ready for their season opener against the Dragons.

The coaches were out with their clipboards and stopwatches timing the football guys and logging the results.

The second practice of the preseason begins early Saturday morning (Aug. 8) at Top Taggart.
