As a follow-up to the report on this blog Wednesday and in today’s Leader-Post, Chris Kunitz of the Pittsburgh Penguins is officially bringing the StanleCongratulations should again go out to Chris for a championship season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.y Cup home to Regina on Aug. 10. The formal announcement was made today, with details appearing in the following media release:
Two-time Stanley Cup Champion, Chris Kunitz, is bringing the Stanley Cup to Regina on Monday, August 10, 2009. The cup will be at City Hall from 9-11 a.m. for public viewing. There will be a short program at 9 a.m, as well as refreshments.
There will also be an opportunity to take your photo with the cup. The event will raise funds for the Allan Blair Cancer Centre by requesting a minimum $5 donation to have an autographed picture of Chris. There will be limited quantities of the signed picture, so fans are encouraged to bring their own memorabilia for Chris to sign.
“Growing up playing hockey in Regina was a big part of my life, so to be able to share this with my home town is an honour for me,” Kunitz said. “Being able to give back to the community by benefiting the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency makes the victory that much sweeter.”
