Muir finished first overall in the race as she and her teammates claimed eight of the top nine spots.
"Overall, I was really happy with this race as it was our first race of the season," Muir said after watching the men's team race after the women's showdown at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids. "It was a good race to get started and it was good for us to get a chance to see where we are early in the season and to see where our fitness level is right now as we get ready for the rest of our (cross country) season."
Muir and her teammates were dominant as Anna Rudd finished second, in 18:49.39; Shelby Janutol placed third, in 19:35.90; Alyssa Osika earned fourth, in 10:37.76; Paige Onweller claimed sixth, in 20:09.03; Jordan McGuire took seventh, in 20:24.66; Felicia Peacock finished eighth, as she clocked 20:27.79; and Sarah Creed was ninth in 20:30.54.
Also for the Bulldogs, Avery Larson was 11th (20:49.99), Nikki Wiers was 12th (21:17.29), Elizabeth Troost was 19th (22:06.75) and Kaye Gray was 23rd (22:51.31).
On the men's side, Curtis Begley placed second, in 26:24.59; Tyler Crossman finished third, in 27:10.31; Alex Best was fifth, in 27:27.33; Derek Childs was sixth, in 27:51.65; Steve Neshkoff was seventh, in 27:51.89; Ryan Chute was eighth, in 28:03.60; Brian Reynolds was ninth in 28:08.88 and Josh Kyser was 10th, 28:09.70.
Alex Bladecki finished 12th, in 28:13.17; Andrew Campbell claimed 13th, in 28:20.77; Michael Moy placed 23rd, in 30:35.79; and Tyler Weedon was slotted 29th in 32:08.90.
Also competing in the event were runners from Davenport University, Kirtland Community College and Schoolcraft College.
