FOOTBALL: Bammert Featured In Flint Journal Article

BIG RAPIDS - Offensive tackle Brad Bammert of Flushing is a captain on Ferris State University's football team.

"He's a very solid student-athlete," Ferris coach Jeff Pierce said. "Both on and off the football field, he takes things seriously. He does a good job maintaining focus in the classroom and on the football field. As one of the returning veterans, we count on him for leadership. ... It's evident that he has that from the players choosing him as one of the captains."

"It's really exciting," Bammert said in response to being named captain. "It's a pretty good honor when you have one hundred guys vote you as a captain. I'm not really doing anything different. I've always been in a leadership spot, but still it's pretty exciting."

The scope of a captainship has taken on a whole new meaning in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) over the last few years with the rise of national powers within the conference.
