VOLLEYBALL: Preview Of Ferris Tourney in Minnesota

BIG RAPIDS - Ferris State University is in Minnesota at the St. Cloud State Tournament to play some volleyball as part of the team's first road trip of the season.

The Bulldogs emerged 3-2 through its first five matches of the season as it opened with St. Joseph's College and then took part in its own Ferris State Bulldog Invitational in Big Rapids.

With five contests to its credit, look for Ferris to begin to focus on strengthening things it learned about during that first weekend of the season.

Out in Minnesota, there is a preview of the tournament Ferris is playing in at St. Cloud State University.

Here is a little of that preview from the St. Cloud Times:
"It's just fun to host," (SCSU head coach Patricia) Gerchy said. "The first three weekends of the season always gives you opportunities to play nonconference teams. We also get to play some regional teams and some different competition. It gives us a couple of more home games, too."

The Huskies open the tournament at 11:30 a.m. Friday against No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney at Halenbeck Hall. Other teams coming to the tournament are Ferris State, Upper Iowa, Missouri Science and Technology and Wayne State (Neb.). Ferris State and Upper Iowa kick things off at 9 a.m. Friday.

Each team plays four matches in the round-robin setup.
We'll see what happens as the tournament unfolds.
