FOOTBALL: Painful Reminder That The GLIAC Is A Tough League

COMSTOCK PARK - It may have been hard for some to believe, but Michigan Tech University was a team that entered Saturday night's Battle at the Ballpark winless on the season at 0-4 overall and in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Huskies looked nothing like a winless team by the time it left the Battle at the Ballpark as MTU played an almost flawless road game (even though it was at a neutral site) to defeat Ferris State University before a crowd of 2,964 at Fifth Third Park.

The GLIAC standings show that there are not a lot of games you can look at and take to the bank as a victory (unless your the No. 1 team in the nation, Grand Valley State University). The Lakers may never lose another GLIAC game, but for most of the other teams in the GLIAC - each weekend is a battle and a team has to come ready to play or it will be tough.

The Bulldogs have a tough schedule ahead (a schedule that does not get any easier for this team):
  • Oct 10: hosting Indianapolis for homecoming
  • Oct. 17: at Wayne State University
  • Oct. 24: at Northwood University
  • Oct. 31: hosting Hillsdale
  • Nov. 7: at Saginaw Valley State University
These are all tough games left for the Bulldogs who are still trying to earn their first conference win of the season.
