HOCKEY: Daniels Has High Hopes Offense Can Return To Form

BIG RAPIDS - Ferris State University is entering the 2009-2010 season with a lot of optimism as it hopes to see its offensive production return to peak levels this winter.

The weapons are present in the locker room for the Bulldogs to have an improved offensive season. Fans will be hoping to see Ferris skating hard all over the ice and making some things happen with high shot totals that lead to higher goal totals. Last year, the shot totals were high, as Ferris did put pressure on the opposition. The conversion rate, however, was not as high as Ferris head coach Bob Daniels would have liked it to be.

"We had an awful lot of firepower returning last year and we do again this year, but we struggled offensively last year and I think the reason is the number of players that had subpar years," he said. "The answers to the offensive difficulties lie within our locker room right now. If those guys return to form I think our offensive difficulties can be behind us.

"I am very excited about our freshmen and I think that they will contribute."

Guys like Cody Chupp, Blair Riley, Aaron Lewicki, Mike Embach and others could be poised for strong offensive years on the ice. With a tough schedule ahead, the Bulldogs need all the points they can get. Thankfully, as far as Daniels is concerned, the talent is present to make that success happen.
