Dean Ellis, the head coach of Northern Michigan University for 24 years, has announced his resignation according to published reports. Several reasons, including health issues, were cited for the resignation of Ellis, who has had a long tenure as head coach of the Wildcats. The resignation is effective immediately, but Ellis will remain head coach of the NMU golf team.
"There are so many moments of my time with NMU basketball that I wouldn't have missed for anything, but right now, it's time for me to make some changes," Ellis said in comments prepared by Northern Michigan University Sports Information Director Dave Faiella. "I would like to thank all of the players, parents, fans, administrators and colleagues who have been instrumental to me over the years. It has been a privilege for me, and my wife Lois, to have raised our sons during my basketball coaching career at NMU."
