VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Former Ferris State University quarterback Kyle Parrish has signed with the Canadian Football League's British Columbia Lions.
For Parrish, signing with a professional team has been like a dream come true.
"Well I tried out for them in an open tryout and did really well," said Parrish, who made a good impression during a free-agent tryout for the team in Los Angeles. "So, they called me back and were wanting to sign me. So we did a deal."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Parrish competed for two seasons with the Bulldogs and had a solid senior campaign as he passed for 1,407 yards and completed 127-of-238 attempts with four touchdowns. As a junior, Parrish passed for 911 yards and six touchdowns as he completed 75-of-137 passes. As a junior and senior, Parrish shared quarterback duties with Tom Schneider (and at times Robert Banaszak).
The Garden Grove, Calif. native came to Ferris after playing for two seasons at Compton Junior College where he passed for more than 2,500 yards and 13 touchdowns before he signed with the Bulldogs and packed his bags for Big Rapids, Mich.
Since the close of the 2009 season, Parrish has been hard at work honing his skills to gear up for a shot at realizing his dream of playing football as a professional.
