Ferris State University
has a little competition going at the quarterback position with Tom Schneider leading the pack followed by Robert Banaszak and Michael Buday.

In Saturday's first scrimmage of the fall, at Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids, the three quarterbacks shared the signal-calling duties running the Bulldog offense.

As of right now, most people are looking at Schneider having the early edge in the battle to running the team. Schneider has the game experience edge on Banaszak and and Buday, but there is still some room for improvement up and down the depth chart.

Schneider, who has the toughness and scrambling skills, has worked on his game as a passer to show he can be a leader in the new offense of first-year coordinator Chris Boden. Early in the scrimmage, Schneider showed his touch with a nice TD pass to Matt Schuelke in the south end zone of Top Taggart Field. Banaszak had a solid spring season and Buday is a guy that is challenging Banaszak for one of those precious spots on the depth chart.

The Bulldogs know they are going to need to be versatile with the vertical passing game in addition to utilizing screens and maybe some runs from the quarterback for head coach Jeff Pierce.
