HOCKEY: Cencer Returns To Ferris And Big Rapids Community

Ferris State University is bringing a talented and familiar presence back into its hockey program with the return of Dave Cencer as its new strength and conditioning coach and video coordinator, according to an announcement made by long-time head coach Bob Daniels.

The return of Cencer to FSU's coaching staff is a welcomed addition to the program to complement the staff that already is in place.

A familiar face is back with the Ferris State University men's ice hockey program as Dave Cencer has been appointed the Bulldogs' new strength and conditioning coach along with video coordinator in an announcement made by head coach Bob Daniels.

Cencer served four seasons (2005-09) as Ferris State's director of hockey operations and the team's video coordinator prior to his departure from FSU early last summer.

"We're elated to have someone of Dave's caliber back with the program," said 19th-year head coach Bob Daniels. "The success achieved by last season's team can be directly traced to Dave's efforts during his previous time at Ferris State.

"Dave is extremely knowledgeable with all facets of strength and conditioning not to mention video software," added Daniels.

Cencer spent the 2009-10 campaign with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Rockford (Ill.) IceHogs in a video coach position after accepting a position with the organization in June 2009. Rockford is an affiliate of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Cencer's credentials have only been strengthened during the brief time he was away from the Bulldog program. He brings that knowledge to complement the tools he already brought to the table.

Ferris hockey is richer for the return of Dave Cencer to Big Rapids.
