VOLLEYBALL: Ferris Off To A Solid 3-1 Start This Season

Ferris State University got off to a strong start this weekend as it hosted the Ferris State Invitational throughout the Ewigleben Sports Complex in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs compiled a 3-1 record against some solid competition as it opened the 2010 season with wins over Lock Haven and Glenville State, on Friday, and Mercyhurst on Saturday. The lone loss of the weekend for Ferris came at the hands of nationally-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato ranked 18th in the nation.

So far this season, Huntey is leading the Bulldogs with 45 kills while Goodson is not too far off that pace with 40 kills. Aly Brecht had 22 and Anne Sutton totaled 18. Fordyce had 103 assists.

Goodson led the team with 14 total blocks while Danielle Hamilton and Lindsay Miller each totaled seven. Lisa Tobiczyk had 46 digs, Fordyce had 19, and Brecht and Huntey each had 12.
