VOLLEYBALL: Fordyce Gets A Shout Out From GLIAC For Her Play

Ferris State University setter Samantha Fordyce, who is enjoying a strong season on the volleyball court so far, caught the attention of the right people at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Fordyce was named the GLIAC North Division Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts in leading head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm's Bulldogs to a 2-1 record (including road weekend victories over Northwood University and Lake Superior State University). The wins over the Timberwolves and the Lakers were much needed after Ferris suffered a lost last week, mid week, to rival Grand Valley State on the road in Allendale.

Ferris bounced back nicely to make quick work of Northwood in three sets and of Lake State in four sets.

Fordyce was a big part of that effort as the sophomore from DeWitt totaled 45 assists against GVSU and then 44 against Lake Superior. Against both GVSU and LSSU, Fordyce totaled nine digs and enjoyed a hitting percentage of .857 against Grand Valley as she notched six kills in seven attacks.

Congrats to Samantha on a strong week for the Bulldogs as Ferris picked up two wins in three tries.
