Ferris State University's Tina Muir didn't feel like she had her best performance, but nonetheless emerged as leader of the pack during the Ray Helsing Invitational run Friday afternoon at Katke Golf Course.
Muir conquered the 5K course in a time of 18:21.14 to win the women's title from a field of 28 runners in Big Rapids. Finishing second was Anna Rudd, a sophomore, who put a time of 18:53.78 in the books representing Ferris in its traditional home meet.
"I am really excited because cross country is definitely my favorite season," Muir said. "We have a great team this year that is looking very promising so I am very excited."
Ferris' Samantha Johnson, a freshman, was third in 19:08.44, sophomroe Alyssa Osika placed fourth in 19:11.96 and second-year runner Shelby Janutol was fifth in 19:16.24.
