Ferris State's Arielle Goodson smashes down and follows through during Friday's home match against Grand Valley State University's Nicole Whiddon. (FSU Photographic Services/Ed Hyde)Ferris State University picked up a much-needed volleyball win on Sunday as it traveled to University Center to take on Saginaw Valley State University.

The Bulldogs won the match that had a final score of 25-18, 26-28, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown.
With the win, Ferris improves to 8-6 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC as it bounces back from Friday's home three-set loss to Grand Valley State.
Against the Cardinals, Ashley Huntey led Ferris with 17 kills and 15 digs. Arielle Goodson totaled 16 digs and Aly Brecht (pictured) had 11. Samantha Fordyce had 48 assists, five kills and five digs. Lisa Tobiczyk had 23 digs.
Against the Lakers, on Friday, Goodson led Ferris with 10 kills while Anne Sutton and Brecht had seven apiece.
Once again, this weekend's results show how tough it can be to win matches in the GLIAC - whether home or away.
Ferris is to be commended for bouncing back from that tough loss against Grand Valley and scoring a road win over SVSU.
