This will be a major test for a Ferris State University team coming off a disappointing 37-33 loss last weekend to the University of Indianapolis.
Meanwhile, today's opponent (with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. at Top Taggart Field in Big Rapids) is a Michigan Tech University team coming to Big Rapids on a high after a 20-17 upset win last weekend over top-ranked Grand Valley State University in Houghton in the Upper Peninsula.
Ferris is 5-4 overall and 5-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as it seeks to get an important win to ensure a winning overall record this season. On the flip side, the Huskies are enjoying a strong season at 6-2 overall and in conference play as they will attempt to build off of last week's success against GVSU.
The Bulldogs are coached by Jeff Pierce who is in his 16th season while the Huskies are coached by Tom Kearly, who is in his fifth season with the Huskies.
The Huskies' key players are Phil Milbrath, the reigning D2football.com National Offensive Player of the Week and GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week and quarterback Steve Short. Milbrath rushed for 293 yards on 33 carries and had two touchdowns against GVSU last week. He has 1,264 yards and two touchdowns this fall. Short has passed for 1,360 yards and 13 touchdowns to six interceptions with a completion percentage of 59.5.
