BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Ferris State University gave it a heck of a run before it dropped a 78-65 overtime decision to Division I Indiana University in Assembly Hall on the IU campus in front of a crowd of 14,928.

The Bulldogs led for a large chunk of the second half before the Hoosiers rallied late to tie the score. Jerrell Sanders, a junior forward for Ferris, hit a shot late in the second half, but the officials waved off his buzzer-beater attempt.

The game went into overtime where the Hoosiers opened up with the first 12 points of the extra session before Ferris finally scored. The Bulldogs fought back, but struggled to fully bounce back -- especially with the loss of standout big man Justin Keenan, who fouled out in regulation.

Keenan had a strong game with 21 points and six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Keenan, the Grand Rapids native, knocked down 7-of-12 shots from the floor and 7-of-13 from the free throw line. Junior point guard Kenny Brown finished with 18 points along with three rebounds and three steals. Sanders had nine points and 10 rebounds while Daniel Sutherlin added seven points and four rebounds.

Ferris led by as many as 13 points (with 7:30 to go in the second half) before the Hoosiers rallied late to tie the score and force OT.

The Bulldogs open the regular season on Saturday night against Division III Calvin College beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jim Wink Arena.
