WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: DeNoyelles Scores 15; Ferris Falls To Division I Oakland In Exhibition

Ferris State University finally had a chance to get on the court to see where it is on the stage of Division II women's college basketball.

The Bulldogs tested their skills against a Division I team, Oakland University, in an exhibition contest at OU in Rochester in suburban Detroit.

Ferris held its own in the game and was within two points with 18:38 to go in the second half before the Golden Grizzlies pulled away with a big run.

Oakland is one of the better teams in its conference and won of the better college women's basketball teams in the state.

Kelsey DeNoyelles, a junior guard, led the Bulldogs with 15 points to go along with six rebounds in the contest. Becci Houdek, a senior guard, added 10 points and four assists as she played a nice floor game for the team.

Head coach Tracey Dorow has emphasized that she believes her team has really stepped up in the off-season with a lot of players who have made strides.

Tiara Adams, a senior forward, totaled seven points and six rebounds. Junior guard Tricia Principe scored six points and with five apiece were Lindsey Pettit, a junior, and freshman guard Sarah DeShone.

The Bulldogs are playing without 6-3 center Andrea Clancy, who is out with an injury. Clancy, however, is expected to make a strong impact on the team when she returns.
