MEN'S BASKETBALL: Gay Reaches 1,000 Points For His Career

Ferris State University senior guard Darien Gay reached a major career milestone in the Bulldogs' men's basketball road victory at Northern Michigan on Sunday (Dec. 19) as he notched his 1,000th career point.

Gay topped the mark by hitting a three-pointer with 7:36 remaining in the Bulldogs' 73-63 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win at Marquette's Berry Events Center, which enabled him to become only the 27th player in more than 80 years of Ferris State basketball history to top the 1,000 career points mark. The preseason All-GLIAC pick is the sixth FSU player in head coach Bill Sall's nine years at the helm to reach the milestone, joining Adam Anderson (1998-03), Carlton Epps (2001-05), Dennis Springs (2002-06), Terrance Shaw (2003-07) and current senior teammate Justin Keenan (2007-present).
