SOFTBALL: Ferris Excited About The Addition Of Tononi To Roster For Future

Michelle Tononi, of Clinton Township and L'Anse Creuse High School, brings the kind of versatility Ferris State University softball coach Keri Becker generally has coveted in her recruits.

The 2010 All-Macomb Athletic Gold Conference's Most Valuable Player, as a junior at L'Anse Creuse High School in Harrison Township, Mich., the 5-foot-3 Tononi has been a utility player capable of playing a number of different positions. Tononi batted a team-best .469 average with 38 base hits in 81 at bats as a junior. She also drove in a team-leading 26 runs and scored 18. A two-time team MVP (2009 and 2010), Tononi showed a little power as she belted a team-leading five home runs, 11 doubles, and four triples.

Tononi has played club softball for the Vengeance Fastpitch team since 2007.

"There isn't anything Michelle can't do on a softball field," Becker said. "She is an exciting player to watch defensively and she will hit the ball a ton."
