e kind of versatility Ferris State University softball coach Keri Becker generally has coveted in her recruits.The 2010 All-Macomb Athletic Gold Conference's Most Valuable Player, as a junior at L'Anse Creuse High School in Harrison Township, Mich., the 5-foot-3 Tononi has been a utility player capable of playing a number of different positions. Tononi batted a team-best .469 average with 38 base hits in 81 at bats as a junior. She also drove in a team-leading 26 runs and scored 18. A two-time team MVP (2009 and 2010), Tononi showed a little power as she belted a team-leading five home runs, 11 doubles, and four triples.
Tononi has played club softball for the Vengeance Fastpitch team since 2007.
"There isn't anything Michelle can't do on a softball field," Becker said. "She is an exciting player to watch defensively and she will hit the ball a ton."
