(Photo by Ben Amato)Ferris State University earned a much-needed win over Wayne State University on Thursday evening in Jim Wink Arena, 78-66 to clinch a share of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division championship.
The Bulldogs really needed the win as Grand Valley State University pulled off a Thursday night upset of Findlay to hang close to Ferris. But, with the win, the Bulldogs maintain a two-game lead over the Lakers as Ferris and Grand Valley head into today's competition. GVSU hosts Wayne while the Bulldogs now host the Oilers.
The share of the divisional title is the first for the Bulldogs since securing back-to-back North Division crowns during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.
"It feels good, but we've got another big game on Saturday and we don't want to share the championship with anybody," said Ferris senior center Justin Keenan, who finished with 22 points.
It was Ferris' 11th win in a row and keeps the Bulldogs unbeaten in Jim Wink Arena this season at 11-0.
