HOCKEY: Ferris Assistant Kaufman Highlighted In Kalamazoo Gazette Article

Ferris State University ice hockey assistant coach Mark Kaufman was highlighted in this article published in the Kalamazoo Gazette in anticipation of this weekend's Central Collegiate Hockey Association second-round series this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) between the Bulldogs and Western Michigan University at Lawson Ice Arena in Kalamazoo (all games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

They will stand on opposite benches this weekend at Lawson Ice Arena, two assistant coaches looking for the most subtle ways to end the other’s season.

When the Central Collegiate Hockey Association quarterfinal series between Western Michigan University and Ferris State is done, the Broncos’ Pat Ferschweiler and the Bulldogs’ Mark Kaufman will resume a relationship more than 20 years in the making.

While much was made of WMU head coach Jeff Blashill, a Ferris State alumnus, facing his collegiate head coach in Bob Daniels when the teams met during the regular season, Ferschweiler and Kaufman go back even further.
