Ferris State University played with a lot of heart, and took Western Michigan University to the limit on the road in hostile Lawson Ice Arena in Kalamazoo, but came up just short.
The Broncos advanced to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit for the final four of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament with a 5-4 overtime win over the Bulldogs Sunday in game three of their best-of-three second-round playoff series.
It was a bitter pill for the Bulldogs to swallow as Ferris came back from three goals down to tie the score at 4-4 only to fall in overtime at the hands of the host Broncos.
The loss ends the season for Ferris as it is unlikely to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Bob Daniels' squad finishes at 18-16-5 this season.
