Ferris State University makes it into the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time since the 2005-06 season and will take on Wayne State University in the opening round of the tournament on Saturday (March 12).
The Bulldogs are the No. 6 seed while the Warriors are a No. 3 seed.
I think the No. 6 seed for Ferris is a bit low, but I can kind of (sort of) see the argument from the other side, too. Still, it's sad that the No. 2 team in the GLIAC Tournament (and No. 1 in the regular season) only warrants a six seed in the regional.
Of course, if the Bulldogs (22-7) had been seeded higher then it would have been harder for the powers that be to knock out one of the two GLIAC teams right off the bat by pitting them against each other in the first round.
