The Official Ferris State University Bulldog Athletics Blog started as a complement to traditional coverage of Ferris athletics. In less than two years, the blog has expanded to include a Twitter account and a sister blog that is published on MLive.com (Crimson and Gold Report). The blogs also have expanded and will continue to expand to cover all Ferris State University Athletics Department programs to feature as many student-athletes as possible through writing, opinion, video, audio and more. In a short time, the Bulldog sports blogs have become a great source for information that supplements the work of Ferris State University's Athletics Communications division.
As of now, the Bulldog Athletics Blog is staffed by Sandy Gholston, a long-time sports writer who has covered Ferris Athletics since 1996 (when he started as a sports writer for the FSU student newspaper, The Torch) and has been following since 1993. For the last three seasons, Sandy has worked as a radio analyst for the Ferris football and men's basketball teams and from time to time for the women's basketball team. Sandy works for Ferris in media relations (University Advancement & Marketing) in several different capacities that help promote the University to internal and external audiences.
Sandy, who lives in Big Rapids, currently serves as an assistant varsity girls basketball coach at Reed City High School. In past years, he served as an eighth grade basketball coach at Reed City.
